Learn to Do Good
Isaiah does not simply say, “Do good.”
He says: “Learn to do right.”
This means that doing good does not always come naturally. We must learn to listen, to discern, to step out of our habits, and sometimes to recognize our prejudices.
We can have good intentions and still misunderstand what someone truly needs. Doing good also requires humility.
The prophet Micah summarizes what God desires:
“To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” (Micah 6:8 - NIV)
Justice. Mercy. Humility.
These three dimensions belong together.
Justice without mercy can become cold. Compassion without action can remain only a feeling. And without humility, we may try to help without truly listening.
Learning to do good often begins with a simple question: “What does this person really need?”
Today, do not necessarily look for something spectacular. Begin with one action that is right, useful, and sincere.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to do good with wisdom and humility.
Help me to listen before acting and to serve without seeking attention.
Let my intentions become concrete actions.
