God’s Will Begins with Knowing God

Devotional

Many believers spend years asking one question: "What is God's will for my life?" While it's a good question, Scripture first invites us to ask a deeper one: "How well do I know the God whose will I'm seeking?"

God's will is not merely about choosing the right job, spouse, ministry, or location. At its core, His will is that we know Him, love Him, and become more like Jesus Christ. Before God reveals specific direction, He often develops our relationship with Him.

Romans 12 teaches that discerning God's will begins with surrender. A transformed life starts with a renewed mind. As you spend time in Scripture, prayer, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit, your desires begin to align with God's heart.

Many people want God's guidance without pursuing God's presence. Yet the closer you walk with Him, the clearer His direction often becomes. God's primary desire is not…

God Meets Us in the Darkness

Scripture: Psalm 34:18 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit."

Reflection: One of the cruelest lies depression tells us is that we are alone.

Depression has a way of making us feel disconnected from everyone around us. Even when we're surrounded by family, friends, coworkers, or people at church, we can still feel unseen and isolated. The darkness can become so overwhelming that God's presence feels distant.

But the Bible tells a different story. In the Old Testament, Psalm 34:18 does not say that God is close only to those who have it all together. It doesn't say He draws near only to those who are strong, joyful, confident, or spiritually thriving. It says He is close to the brokenhearted. I have sat with parents, soldiers, spouses and individuals who felt forgotten. What stood out to me during those conversations was that…

Search Me

Do you dare to pray in a way you’ve never prayed before?

With all of your heart, soul, mind, and the full extent of your being? What would happen in your life and the lives of those around you if you started praying dangerous prayers?

Do you dare to find out?

King Saul falsely accused David of treason and sent his full forces after David in repeated attempts to take his life. With all his heart, David wanted to please God. He fought against his anger in order to protect and show honor to the king. Yet knowing that his motives weren’t always perfect, David surrendered his heart before God and prayed one of the most vulnerable, transparent, and dangerous prayers you’ll ever hear. Wanting to honor God in every aspect of his being, David prayed, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.…

The Potter

And yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭64‬:‭8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When I picture the potter at the wheel, I’m reminded of something I often forget—I am not random. I am not an accident. I am not a product of chance. I am in the hands of a Master.

God, because of who He is, has intention. He has design. He has purpose.

And just like clay cannot shape itself, I can’t become who I was created to be apart from Him.

Believe me, I’ve tried. I’ve taken control, attempted to define my own life, and every time, I end up with something distorted. BUT, when I surrender to His hands, everything changes. Listen to this amazing declaration about God’s design in YOU!

Setting Our Mind on Good

What are our first thoughts of the day? Do we start the day thinking well or thinking badly? In this, we must be intentional: predispose ourselves toward good.

God renews His mercy every day, and that truth will not change. It doesn’t depend on us, but that is His very essence.

“This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it,” Psalm 118:24 (NIV). If God made it, shouldn’t we start it with thanksgiving? We must focus our eyes on what is eternal each day to find purpose.

Sometimes it seems easier to think badly: that there will be complications, stress, and problems, but the Lord has a promise for every situation.

Let us know the Bible and the promises found there, and bring them to Him in prayer during adverse situations.
