Who am I that God is mindful of me?

"What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?" Psalm 8:4 (NIV)

When we think about who God is - His Splendor, His Sovereignty, His Power, His Strength - we can often wonder how He finds time to pursue us through His Love. Think about it. He set the heavens and earth in place - such magnificence. Yet, in the end He considered that you and I needed to exist. Our existence was not merely casual - God made us in His own Image.

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” Genesis 1:26 (NIV)

God didn't just stop at creation. He released His blessing upon us and entrusted us with dominion over the earth. Later, when Adam and Eve fell into sin, though kicked out of the Garden of Eden, He didn't abandon them. He still helped them increase in number through their children and generations that came after them.

Countless times we see God constantly extending mercy and grace to us human beings even when we fall deeply. He still says, "You are mine" because He desires that none of us should perish.

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. 2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)

Father, thank you for your love, patience, and constant pursuit of me. Since creation, you have shown me that you are concerned for my well-being and eternal destiny. Thank you for thinking of me, even when I don't deserve it. Help me to walk in your image and always please you. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
