Have you ever felt stuck carrying shame from your past?

Shame has a way of convincing people they are too far gone, too broken, or too messed up for God to want anything to do with them. I’ve wrestled with those thoughts before too.

But Jesus consistently moved toward people carrying shame.

In John 8, religious leaders bring a woman caught in adultery before Jesus. The crowd is ready to condemn her. But Jesus responds with both truth and grace. He does not ignore her sin, but He also does not crush her with condemnation.

That balance matters.

Repentance is not about living trapped in shame forever. It’s about bringing our brokenness into the light so grace can begin healing us.

Romans 8 says, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

That does not mean our choices do not matter. It means failure does not have to define our future.

One of the hardest things about repentance is believing God truly forgives and restores people. But the cross is proof that His grace is bigger than our worst moments.

Tomorrow we’ll talk about what real change actually looks like over time.
